Position Overview

The Creative Director (“CD”) leads and oversees the creative process for all brand and design-related deliverables. They’re responsible for building and managing the creative team and for ensuring the caliber of work delivered meets or exceeds company standards.

The CD works closely with the Operations Director to ensure the creative process is executed smoothly. Our company prides itself on delivering best-in-class creative work that blends design excellence and industry expertise. Therefore, it’s at the core of the CD role to ensure this level of quality is achieved by way of the overarching workflow and the design team itself.

They are responsible for championing a creative process that’s flexible, thorough, and adaptable to reasonable constraints (budget, timeline, and scope).

Day-to-day, the CD serves as a “player/coach” in both internal and client-facing projects. Typically, they direct members of the design team to execute work, but on some high-priority projects, they also serve as the lead designer. Either way, they set the overall creative vision and present the work to the client.

They are also accountable for ensuring the design team is well-resourced and utilized. E.g. every team member has sufficient design work on their plate, they consistently deliver quality work, and assigned time allotments are honored.

The CD reports to the President. They’re one of four director-level roles at the company alongside the Technical, Marketing, and Operations Directors. Together, these roles are responsible for front-to-back project execution.


How success will be measured:

  • Ensure the output of all design-related deliverables meets and exceeds Authentic aesthetic and design standards.

  • Ensure our design work incorporates industry best practices and is implemented in a way that solves meaningful problems for our clients.

  • Ensure our creative process is flexible and meets budget, timeline, and scope constraints.

    Research, vet, and hire design staff who consistently push the team forward and help the company achieve consistently strong outcomes.

  • Ensure the design team (internal and contractors) members are well utilized* across creative projects.

Processes owned:

  • Creative deliverable documents and guidelines
  • Internal and client-facing design review meetings
  • Design staff hiring process and final decisions
  • Weekly and monthly team oversight for billable hours, overages, etc.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day and week-to-week tasks:

  • Oversee design execution and provide creative direction to all Design team members on all client and internal projects.

  • Serve as the primary advocate for creative direction, deliverable execution, milestone dates, handoff calls, and client feedback management on all design-related client projects.

  • Lead deliverable handoff calls with clients, walking them through the work and facilitating constructive feedback from them.

  • Serve as lead designer on high-priority client and internal projects.

  • Communicate with clients on design-related feedback and questions.

  • Perform research into industry trends, strategies, and new design approaches the Authentic team can implement to innovate our work and provide more value to clients.

  • Manage and mentor members of the design team: answering questions, hopping into screenshares, reviewing monthly check-ins, one-on-ones, and formal performance reviews.

  • Assist with the planning and execution of projects by attending Active Project Stands and Weekly Scheduling calls.

  • Coordinate with the Operations Director on how to best organize and run the Authentic creative process.


United States only.

Our salary range for this role is 90-110K commensurate with experience based on considerations such as work history, industry knowledge, etc.
