Job summary

The Urban Planner and GIS Analyst will be responsible for researching for planning rules majorly would comprise around built types such as houses, duplexes, accessory dwelling units, swimming pools, sheds, etc. Furthermore, studying and assessing data layers (open-source GIS data) across various jurisdictions. Data sets to be examined would majorly include land zoning, public utilities (sewer, storm water, water, etc.) and hazard layers (flood, bushfire, acid sulfate soils, etc.). The acquired information will be implemented into the company’s software for clients to understand the feasibility of proposed future developments against the planning policies and controls within relevant areas.

Job responsibilities

• Researching and recording information for different planning rules and data layers related to new property development across various jurisdictions on request basis by the client
• Keeping the records up to date with the source of information and its timelines
• Liaising with relevant authorities to get access to acquire relevant information
• Liaising with relevant authorities, councils and/or land developers to get access to different data points
• Liaising with other team members to provide the data related to new developments.

• Bachelor’s degree
• Confident, Optimistic & Positive
• Technologically competent, with great general skills
• Basic QGIS skills recommended – keen eye to accuracy and details
• Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
• Research experience (identify and prospect for new customers)
• Be resilient and adaptable to change.
