As our Mobile Designer, you’ll change how businesses use smartphones. Your job is to make mobile-first apps that are easy to use and look great, just like the best consumer apps. You’ll turn everyday business tools into simple, engaging experiences that everyone loves to use.

Create interfaces that are not only visually appealing but also deeply intuitive for our business users.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Consumer Design Expertise: Apply consumer app design principles to business apps. Your role is to make complex SMB software intuitive and appealing on mobile devices.
  • UX Design Skills: Your primary focus is on user-friendly design. You should be adept at simplifying complex business tasks, making them easily manageable on mobile.
  • Mobile-First Approach: Specialize in mobile app design. You understand what makes mobile apps engaging and can apply these insights to our business apps.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Work effectively with both the technology and growth teams to ensure a cohesive user experience and design continuity.
  • Research-Oriented: Use user research to inform your design decisions, ensuring they meet real user needs and preferences.
  • Attention to Detail: You believe in the importance of fine details in design, understanding that good design is not just about appearance but also about creating a seamless user experience.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in the dynamic environment of an early-stage startup. You’re flexible and ready to tackle new challenges.
  • Clear Communication: Capable of explaining design concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Cultural Fit: Align with our values of simplicity, global perspective, and meritocracy. You’re excited to be part of a diverse and inclusive team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Remember, this list is just a starting point, and your role might evolve based on the company’s needs.

Before the release of our first app:

  • Conduct a deep dive into competitor analysis, examining 150 software and apps to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Perform user interviews to gather insights on what can be improved in existing products.
  • Collaboratively shape the design direction of our first two app releases with the CTO, CEO, and Head of Growth.
  • Work alongside marketing artists and a design agency to develop a compelling and coherent branding for our apps.
  • Focus on crafting an intuitive and engaging user experience for our initial app offerings, ensuring they meet and exceed user expectations.

After the release of our first app:

  • Monitor user interaction data to refine and enhance app features, with a particular focus on increasing user retention and satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve any onboarding challenges swiftly, optimizing the initial user experience.
  • Actively adapt app design based on varied user behaviors and feedback, ensuring our solutions remain relevant and user-centric.
  • Collaborate with marketing and growth teams to align ongoing design improvements with broader user acquisition and retention strategies.

Your role as our Mobile Designer is crucial in bridging the gap between user needs and our product offerings.

SOME QUESTION WE MAY ASK DURING THE PROCESS

  • Describe a mobile app design you’re particularly proud of. What impact did it have on user engagement?
  • How do you approach designing for a mobile-first experience differently than for desktop?
  • What’s your process for incorporating user feedback into your designs?
  • Can you give an example of a complex design problem you solved specifically for mobile platforms?
  • … More surprise in the next interview
