The Luminos Fund, an international nonprofit bringing education opportunities to the world’s most vulnerable children, seeks a full-time Graphic Design Consultant to contribute to its rapid growth and expansion.

The Graphic Design Consultant will support the Luminos Communications and Development team to create high-quality graphics, printed and digital materials, presentations, and more. This is a great opportunity for creative individuals looking to contribute their design skills to a mission-oriented organization and gain experience with a growing international development organization. Successful candidates will navigate multiple priorities and time-sensitive projects competently, enjoy contributing their talents on diverse projects, and be passionate about education, children, storytelling, and design.

This full-time consultant will be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the GMT -5 to +1 time zones (Boston/Washington D.C., London/Accra, Paris, etc.). This position will be contracted for one year and will report to the Senior Communications Manager with the possibility of renewal.

ABOUT THE LUMINOS FUND

The Luminos Fund (www.luminosfund.org) provides transformative education programs to thousands of out-of-school children, helping them to catch up to grade level, reintegrate into government schools, and prepare for lifelong learning. Working in partnership with community-based organizations, Luminos is scaling up its accelerated learning program to ensure all children have equal access to joyful, foundational learning, especially those shut out of education by crisis, poverty, or discrimination. To date, Luminos has helped over 218,541 children secure a second chance to learn. A registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, Luminos is working in Ethiopia, Ghana, Lebanon, Liberia, and The Gambia.

Luminos is supported by a range of funding partners, including Cartier Philanthropy, Dubai Cares, Legatum, and UBS Optimus Foundation. Luminos has been recognized for its achievements globally, receiving the 2022 Klaus J. Jacobs Best Practice Prize, the Library of Congress International Literacy Award, the Lipman Family Prize, the WISE Award, and the HundrED Global Innovation Award for the last six years.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications and Development support

  •  Maintain Luminos brand integrity and creative consistency in close collaboration with the Senior Communications Manager.
  • Format documents in Microsoft Word including funding proposals, concept notes, and reports.
  • Design and update PowerPoint presentations for internal and external use, including pitch decks for funding opportunities.
  • Distill complex strategies, data, and information into compelling and easy-to-read PowerPoint slides and graphics.
  • In collaboration with the Development and Communications Associate, design graphics, short animations/videos, and data visualizations for social media platforms.
  • Design promotional materials and printed collateral, researching vendors when relevant and coordinating with in-country teams.
  • Make basic updates to the Luminos website, including producing blogs.
  • Develop a unique icon library for Luminos.
  • Support the development of internal brand guidelines and resources.
  • Support the formatting and polishing of various Teaching & Learning materials in Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign.
  • Support with internal photo research, editing, and cropping.
  • Research potential partnerships with freelance photographers and videographers in Luminos’ countries of operation.
  • Design simple, yet polished email templates in Outlook and/or Mailchimp for event invitations and updates.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience

  • BA in Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field, and 1-2 years’ relevant experience.
  • Deep experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • A demonstrated track record of producing well-formatted Word documents, PowerPoint decks, and graphics.
  • Superb writing, communication, and proofreading skills.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience working in Word Press, particularly using the Divi Theme.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with fundraising, nonprofit organizations, or international development.
  • Experience with HTML and CSS is a plus.
  • Experience with web analytics, SEO, and Google Ads.
  • Experience with video editing and light animations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Canva.
