We’ve seen huge success through several pilot schemes of our innovative water storage solutions, with incredible feedback from a range of end users/customers.
Our manufacturing and production lines are now established we’re now looking to get our product out to the wider market.
We’re looking for an experienced Business Development Manager, who is hands-on and can contribute to the sales and commercial strategy of the business.
Tasks
You’ll be working closely with our CEO, in order to build up knowledge of our product range, customers and sales process.
Our main route to market is through partnerships with distributors, but we also sell direct to businesses, especially in the UK.
We typically look for well-established distributors, who can help market and sell our range in local markets around the world. You’ll develop and own these relationships end to end.
We also sell directly to businesses such as medium to large farms, nurseries or even mines – any business that experiences challenges around water storage, mainly in the UK.
We attend many events, shows and conferences. Our co-founders are thought leaders in this space and are often invited to speak. You’ll attend to focus on collecting leads and building relationships.
You’ll also need to support our work around marketing, PR and product development. As you build up your knowledge of our customers and product you’ll become an important feedback loop for the wider business.
This is a hybrid role, where you can work from home but you will need to travel occasionally.
Requirements
First and foremost you must be an experienced BDM, with a track record of consistently hitting or exceeding targets. We’ll want to hear about the targets you had and the activity that helped you hit them.
It’s important that you have sold a similar product before – ideally, this would be water storage solutions or concrete products but we are also open to anyone selling high-ticket items through distributors, where technical specs are important such as construction or civil engineering.
Ideally, you have experience working with distributors around the world too, if not you’ll need to demonstrate the right mindset to be successful on a global scale.
You’ll need to demonstrate that you are both strategic and hands-on. We’ll want to hear about your contributions to the sales strategy alongside the day-to-day activity and KPIs you worked on.
It’s crucial that you have contributed to the optimisation of a sales process, even if you haven’t owned it in past roles. We’ll want to hear about your suggestions and their impact.
If you have not worked in a startup environment before we’ll want to understand why now is the right time in your career and also that you understand the nuances and challenges of a startup.
Obviously, there is an expectation that successful salespeople are ambitious, charismatic, driven and resilient. Alongside this, we are looking for someone who is an organised team player with a positive attitude.
Finally, this is a role where you will need to travel to be effective, both attending our workshop in Pontyclun and visiting customers and events around the UK. We don’t expect significant international travel but it might require occasional nights away from home.
Your day-to-day work can be performed remotely from home. We’ll want to make sure these working practices are sustainable for you in the long term.
