Background to the role

Our website is our primary sales platform. As well as selling experiences, we use it to showcase our values and the partners we work with.

We have recently migrated from a Squarespace 7.0 to a Squarespace 7.1 website. Our site displays the information we need but its performance and functionality can be improved.

We also regularly create new events and trips and our site requires regular updates to reflect the latest information and calls to action.

We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and experienced freelance website designer and/or developer to lead in the ongoing update, maintenance and optimisation of our website.

You will ensure that our website operates at its best and is optimised to sell our experiences. You will be responsible for making regular updates, troubleshooting issues, implementing improvements, and coding custom solutions.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Make site optimisations based on data-driven decisions and site analytics.
  • A/B test landing pages and optimise accordingly.
  • Map customer journey and build content pages and PDPs around customer site behaviour insights.
  • Regularly update our website content, including text, images, and multimedia elements.
  • Ensure the website is responsive and compatible across various devices and browsers.
  • Perform routine checks to identify and fix broken links, errors, or bugs.
  • Optimise website performance, including loading speed and SEO.
  • Implement security measures to protect against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Work with our team to ensure our website reflects the latest information and branding.
  • Monitor website analytics and provide insights and recommendations for improvements.
  • Code and modify existing code to customise the website according to our specific needs.
  • Respond promptly to website-related issues and emergencies.
  • Provide guidance on how we can make site edits at our end.

Your Experience and Attitude

The role will suit someone with a passion for what we offer who is also:

  • A safe pair of hands, a self-starter and a team player.
  • Comfortable working in a startup environment: is growth-minded, proactively solves problems as they arise and not afraid to experiment with the unknown.
  • Open to learning and driven by results.
  • Exceptionally organised and attentive to detail.
  • Personable and welcomes people from all backgrounds, places and walks of life.

Experience

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience working with e-commerce websites / online stores / marketplaces a plus (sometimes you have website designers who have only worked with content sites, for example, and they don’t have so much of a customer focus)
  • Experience A/B testing and optimising landing pages.
  • Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in Squarespace 7.1 website design and maintenance.
  • Exceptional expertise in web design principles, user experience, and SEO best practices.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and web development.
  • Strong coding skills with the ability to create and adapt code to customise the website.
  • Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Benefits

About More Life Adventures

More Life Adventures is a fitness experience company; we create and deliver a variety of fitness workshops and holidays in the UK and overseas.

A team of 5, we are a small but ambitious start-up. We welcome open communication and encourage feedback. We are friendly but equally direct in our approach to work. We see experimentation as a means to growth.

Our team is from all over the world – from the UK to Greece, to South Africa, to Hong Kong – so we all love to travel and experience different cultures. Although we are mostly remote, we are a tight-knit team with good vibes.

Compensation

Compensation will be based on the candidate’s level of experience and will be discussed during the interview process.

For the successful candidate, this is a long-term opportunity to work with an exciting and growing startup.

Working Hours

We are looking at ongoing part time work for 1-2 days per week spread across 5 days.

This is a fully remote position. You should be able to work during some UK working hours so that we can arrange live calls.

The exact hours per week required may vary from month to month.

How to Apply

We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, or age.

Please submit your CV, a portfolio showcasing your experience, and a comprehensive cover letter outlining your qualifications, coding skills, and why you are interested in this role.
