Hi! We are Forgotten Runes and we’re creating the next great fantasy franchise. We’re building a decentralized Lord of the Rings and we’re working on art, Lore, an MMORPG, and even a TV Show – all anchored in web3. We’re one of the top projects in web3 and we’ve earned millions of dollars in revenue.

We’re looking for a web & visual designer who wants to help us build the brand as we try to bootstrap a global franchise from scratch.

As our first UI/UX Designer, you’re setting the foundation of our user experience. Your designs will be the bridge between our projects and our users, ensuring that every interaction with our world is intuitive, engaging, and magical. You’ll be pivotal in bringing the Forgotten Runes universe to life by crafting the visual and interactive elements that will define us.

We’re a small team of about 10. We have artists on staff, but none of us are “designers”. Your work will be hands-on and a mixture of UI/UX with Graphic Design.

Some of the projects we have ahead of us are:

• A UGC Lore-writing platform
• Inventing new AI tools for world-building
• Tools for everyday individuals to license IP to bigger brands
• High-polish pages for collectors to show off their collections
• Videogame(s)
• etc.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and implement the Forgotten Runes brand design guidelines (brand identity, visual storytelling, typography, etc.)
• Work on new products & pages from conception, UX, to UI design (surfacing user requirements, crafting wireframes, working with engineering)
• Work on important landing pages, investor presentations/decks, graphics for blogs, newsletters, and social efforts

Requirements:

• Prior experience in Web/UX/Visual design
• A portfolio that speaks to your experience
• Good with Figma and other industry tools like Adobe Creative suite etc.
• Motion graphics and modern web tools like Framer a plus
• Ability to ideate, conceptualize, and sketch your design proposals – and take the concept to production-ready
• An exceptional eye for design with a good pulse on current trends
• You take pride in your work

• Comfortable flying solo: you’ll be our first designer which means responsibility lies directly on you
• You have strong communication skills and don’t mind working remotely
• Agile and adaptable and comfortable with frequent changes
• You’re detail oriented and can visualize both how applications work as well as look
• Able to juggle design, web, and branding and iterate across several design projects
