Hi, I’m Julia.

I’m one of the Co-Founders of A Bar Above, a website and e-commerce company dedicated to the art of craft cocktails and the people who make them.

We are looking for a driven, highly organized person to help our company with social media and community management. You’re going to be working alongside our marketing team to help create compelling social media campaigns, engage with our social community, and spark great conversations with our customers!

  • We are a remote team: We’re based in Southern California, USA, but you’ll be working from home. Expect in-person meetings once or twice per year, locally in Mexico and / or at our HQ in Carlsbad, California.

We are looking for a part-time (approximately 15 hours per week) Social Media Assistant with a passion for social media and great cocktails to join our small but driven team. You’ll be the voice of our brand, creating campaigns and actively connecting with our community online across all platforms. We’re a small team with a huge impact – this is a great opportunity to develop your skills and thrive in our quickly growing company. Please note this is a contract position with limited benefits.


Here’s what you can expect to spend your time doing on a day-to-day basis:

  • Help create a compelling content calendar that will grow brand awareness, increase follower growth and engagement, and (for some campaigns) drive sales.
  • Foster an engaged social community across all platforms, including but not limited to our Instagram, TikTok, Facebook page, Facebook groups, YouTube comments, & blog comments.
  • Monitor social media inboxes, answer questions, and ensure timely responses.
  • Actively research influencer accounts throughout every social media channel to grow our affiliate program.
  • Maintain our brand voice across all social media platforms and digital touchpoints, including Facebook, Facebook Groups, TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube.
  • Help create beautiful images using Canva and VSCO.
  • Short-form video editing.
  • Always be learning! You’ll need to stay current with what’s working in Content Marketing, current trends, SEO and Social Media and keep updating our strategy and processes accordingly.
  • Develop monthly reports on social media performance and trends.


  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Able to communicate in a clear but friendly way, both internally and externally.
  • You are ridiculously organized, a great communicator, and exhibit fine attention to detail.
  • You’re great at working with multiple people to get a project done, and done well!
  • You love to learn! You frequently listen to podcasts, watch webinars, and read about content / social media marketing to learn what’s new and working today.
  • You have an eye for great visuals and an ear for clear, well-written copy. You know what great content looks like and how to push our team to create it.
  • You’re friendly, positive, and don’t take yourself too seriously. I mean, really – our entire business is about cocktails, so let’s have some fun with it!
  • You have a dedicated work space in your home, personal computer, and reliable Internet service.
  • You’re located in Mexico.


  • 2+ years of experience in Social Media Management.
  • 2+ years experience with copywriting and developing content in English.
  • Knowledge of basic image editing using tools like Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic short-form video editing for TikTok, IG Reels, and YT Shorts.
  • Knowledge of content calendar planning for Social Media.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, English, Communications or related field.
  • Remote work / work-from-home experience.


These are optional, but great if you have them! Be sure to mention if any of the following apply to you:

  • Hospitality / Food & Beverage experience. We love hiring hospitality folks!
  • You’re a foodie and you love creating your own craft cocktails.
  • eCommerce marketing experience, especially in consumer goods.
  • Experience with paid social PPC, ad creation, targeting, optimization.
  • You’re a rockstar when it comes to Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, Illustrator).


  • Work/life Balance: Work from home with a flexible, part-time schedule – approximately 15 hours per week

  • As mentioned above, this is a freelance, part-time role. However, our goal is to find someone who can eventually grow into a full-time role with the company.
  • This is a remote job, but candidate must reside in Mexico.

Pay: $6000 – 7500 MXN per month, DOE
