UI/UX Designer: Wellness App

UpHealth.ai is a mission-driven mental wellness startup rethinking how we reduce stress at its roots. We’re building a personalized, proactive AI assistant—Joy—designed to help individuals understand their stress patterns and build daily habits that lead to lasting emotional health.

Unlike generic wellness apps or reactive therapy platforms, UpHealth combines science-backed techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Positive Psychology with intelligent, emotionally-aware technology. The platform integrates daily check-ins, passive data from calendars and wearables, and smart interventions to help users improve their mood, strengthen relationships, and reduce burnout.

We’re looking for a talented Figma Designer to bring our app to life. You’ll transform our feature concepts, onboarding flow, and existing color palette into beautiful, intuitive designs that feel warm, empathetic, and aligned with our brand. You will work directly with the founders to design 6 core screens (with 4 in the bottom navigation), refining layouts to merge certain features for a smoother experience (e.g., integrating Calendar + Zone on the Profile page).

Core Features to Design

Joy – AI chatbot agent for emotional support.

Zone – Stress-level tracker: “Know your zone, own your energy.”

Circle – A “poker table”–style interface for adding friends & family (inner circle).

Explore – Science-backed activity library for well-being.

Reflect – Gratitude journaling & personal journey tracking.

Calendar – Integrated with Profile view.

Your Responsibilities

• Create pixel-perfect, high-fidelity designs in Figma based on our existing color palette & branding.
• Design and iterate on 6 main screens with thoughtful navigation and user flow.
• Implement onboarding flow (provided in document form) with smooth transitions and emotional impact.
• Ensure designs are mobile-first, scalable, and ready for handoff to developers.
• Collaborate with the product team to refine user experience and visual hierarchy.

   

What We’re Looking For

• Proficiency in Figma (components, variants, auto-layout, prototyping).
• Proven experience designing mobile apps, preferably in wellness, lifestyle, or social networking.
• Strong grasp of color psychology and emotional design to align with our mental health mission.
• Ability to interpret wireframes and conceptual notes into polished designs.
• Portfolio that showcases clean, intuitive, and empathetic design.

   

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with animation & micro-interactions in Figma or After Effects.
• Familiarity with mental health, mindfulness, or self-care apps.
• Understanding of user onboarding best practices for engagement.
