Technical Co-Founder/ CTO for B2B SaaS
Company details
Company: OE Trader
Job type: Remote
Country: United States
City: Los Angeles
Experience: 4 years or more
Description of the offer
Role is equity-first in the beginning, with salary granted upon reaching agreed revenue or funding milestones.
OE Trader (oetrader.com) is a vertical SaaS product for OEM dealerships. We help parts departments reconcile manufacturer invoices, detect shortages, and manage inventory more profitably.
Unidentified shortages and inventory discrepancies cost the average dealer thousands of dollars per month, but tracking discrepancies within a constant stream of manufacturer invoices and hundreds of daily inventory transactions is out of reach for the vast majority of dealerships.
We’re in BETA, but are already generating revenue with near-zero churn, 100% word-of-mouth customers (no marketing), and multiple distribution partnerships in negotiation. Now we need a senior engineer to help rebuild the product for scale.
Problem and scale
Each dealership produces large volumes of operational and financial data:
- Frequent file uploads and downloads
- Significant numbers of part transactions and invoice lines
- Ongoing edits, notes, and collaboration
- Documents from multiple OEM sources that must be parsed and normalized
Our customers expect the product to stay reliable, accurate, and performant while handling this growing data volume. Your work will establish the technical foundation to support thousands of active users across many dealerships.
The role
As CTO, you will:
- Own the technical direction and system architecture
- Lead the rebuild of the web application with an emphasis on scalability and maintainability
- Design and implement the backend and API layer for large, structured datasets
- Drive decisions on frontend frameworks, tooling, and patterns
- Work directly with two technical co-founders
- Establish engineering practices for testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and security
- Build a platform that can expand into adjacent product lines and handle greater throughput
This is a hands-on role. You will be designing and writing core systems, not just managing others.

Who you are
You might be a strong match if:
- You have shipped and operated production systems with real-world scale
- You have strong experience with relational databases and structured data
- You have built data-heavy B2B SaaS products or internal tools
- You can own both backend and frontend architecture and justify tradeoffs clearly
- You are pragmatic about stack choices and comfortable in early-stage environments
- You prefer working on systems that provide clear operational value to real businesses
Our background is mostly Python, but we are open to other proven stacks if you can lead with them.
Compensation and structure
- Equity-first role at the beginning, with minimal or no salary until agreed revenue or funding milestones
- Equity range is meaningful and will depend on experience, involvement, and responsibility
- Equity will be issued as QSBS-eligible stock
If you require a full market salary from day one, this will not be a fit. If you want real ownership in a working product with real customers and a clear path to broader adoption, this may be a good match.
Location
- Remote-friendly
- Founders are based in Texas (Central Time)
