**About the Role & What You’ll Be Doing

As an Alaffia Health Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript Services), you’ll become an integral part of our forward-thinking backend API development team. In this role, you’ll contribute to the evolution of automated healthcare payment processing, collaborating with passionate engineers dedicated to delivering cutting-edge software solutions. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of our platform while making a meaningful impact on the efficiency and accuracy of healthcare payments nationwide.

**Your Responsibilities

• Write production-level backend services in TypeScript
• Use technologies like GraphQL and PostgreSQL to create flexible, performant APIs
• Build end-to-end services leveraging data science techniques
• Develop engineering solutions to identify improper charges and patterns of fraud, waste, and abuse in healthcare payments
• Engage in infrastructural and architectural decisions to support real-time updates and platform scalability
• Collaborate with backend and machine learning engineers to implement new APIs and services
• Work closely with the Auditing team to incorporate expertise into web app features and core technology development
• Architect and rearchitect new and existing patterns to support the evolving Alaffia ecosystem

**What We’re Looking For

• 6-10 years of experience in a backend service development role
• Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, NodeJS, and ExpressJS
• Experience with GraphQL and PostgreSQL
• Experience with Jest or Vitest
• Self-starter with experience leading small teams
• Deep database knowledge and data storage optimization knowledge using Postgres or similar
• Experience developing and deploying production-level APIs and Services
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps teams
• Ability to translate application requirements into API specifications and data models
• Familiarity with logging technologies and debugging production applications
• Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud providers
• Architectural design experience and data model design experience
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, GitHub, CI/CD using GitHub Actions
