Data Engineer
Company details
Company: ClaimsHero
Job type: Remote
Country: United States
City: Los Angeles
Experience: 4 years or more
Description of the offer
At ClaimsHero, we’re tackling a fundamental injustice. Companies are often economically incentivized to cause mass harm, but the system to address those harms is broken. As a result, billions of dollars don’t reach the hands of the consumers who need them most. We are building a technology platform to rebalance the scales, making it simple and safe for all Americans to assert their rights and achieve corporate accountability.
We are a fast-paced, quickly scaling Series A startup that has already established traction with hundreds of thousands of users and achieved early profitability. If you’re ready to create a tremendous impact alongside a team dedicated to transforming a highly conservative industry, let’s talk.
About the Role
We are an early-stage startup building our foundational data team, and we’re looking for a Data Engineer to be a key builder of our data infrastructure. As an early member of our data function, you will have a significant role in executing our data strategy, owning critical pipelines, and enabling the analytics and insights that will shape our product and growth.
You will be joining a small-but-mighty engineering team and will work closely with engineering leadership and stakeholders across the company. This is a high-impact position where you will get to build, scale, and see your work directly influence business decisions.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and scale our modern data and analytics stack.
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines, transforming raw data from various sources into clean, reliable, and performant data models ready for analysis.
- Support and enhance our product analytics and BI platforms, empowering teams with the data they need.
- Implement and monitor critical data flows, ensuring that data moves reliably to and from external systems, including ad platforms and SaaS tools.
- Help lay the foundation for the future by building a data infrastructure that not only serves our immediate analytics needs but is also prepared for deeper analytics and data science work.
- Partner with product and growth teams to understand their data needs and provide the data models and tools required to answer their most pressing questions.
Who You Are
- The Essentials: * 2-5 years of data engineering experience, with a proven track record of building and maintaining data infrastructure in a cloud environment. * Strong experience with data warehousing solutions. * Hands-on experience with the modern data stack: event streaming, ELT/ETL tools, and data transformation. * Experience supporting BI tools for business users. * Experience with Typescript logging frameworks and best practices. * A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- A Self-Starter and Builder: You thrive in a fast-paced environment. You can take a technical vision and help translate it into a concrete, well-executed plan. You are passionate about building systems that are robust, scalable, and maintainable.
- A Collaborative Partner: You understand that data is a team sport. You are skilled at working with stakeholders from different departments (product, growth, engineering) to understand their needs and deliver solutions that empower them.
- An Owner, Not a Renter: You have a mindset of radical accountability. You’re proactive, resourceful, and have an unstoppable drive to build and maintain data systems that are reliable and trusted.
- Impact and Prioritization Obsessed: You are adept at navigating ambiguity and making smart trade-offs. You know how to focus on the highest-leverage data projects that will drive the most significant business impact.
