What We’re Looking For

Chronicle Creations is hiring a Senior 2D Artist & Icon Illustrator to help shape the visual heart of Dreambook, our iPad-first storytelling platform for children ages 3-8. Reporting to the Art Director, you’ll produce everything from crisp, kid-friendly iconography to richer scene art and celebratory screens—ensuring every pixel invites young readers to explore and create.
If you thrive on turning a style guide into production-ready assets, can scale your craft from micro-icons to detailed illustrations, and enjoy rapid iteration in a small, mission-driven team, we’d love to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Design a cohesive icon system covering settings, characters (dragons, robots, princesses, dinosaurs, etc.), UI actions, badges, and micro-illustrations—all optimized for iPad Retina displays and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines.
- Create more detailed 2D artwork when the moment calls for it—menu backgrounds, onboarding scenes, and milestone illustrations with extra depth and ambience.
- Export clean, multi-resolution assets (PNG/SVG/PDF, 1×–4×) ready for SwiftUI integration and touch-target requirements.
- Work closely with our Art Director, UX designers, and iOS engineers to slot assets seamlessly into the product, responding quickly to play-test feedback from kids and parents.
- (Bonus) Add subtle motion using Lottie, Spine, or After Effects—think dragon wings fluttering or confetti bursts after a story is saved.
What You’ll Need
- 8+ years of professional 2D illustration or game/app asset production, including substantial icon-system work.
- A portfolio that shows range—polished icons plus mid-detail UI/scene art, ideally for kid-centric brands or products.
- Expert command of vector & raster tools (Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, etc.) and disciplined file-naming/export habits.
- Deep understanding of visual design for early readers—bold shapes, high contrast, clear silhouettes, and playful storytelling through imagery.
- Strong collaboration & communication skills—you can explain visual choices to non-artists and iterate without ego in an agile environment.
- Bonus points for:
- Lottie / Spine / After Effects animation experience
- Familiarity with SwiftUI, SpriteKit, or Unity asset pipelines
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices for children’s products
Join us and help tens of thousands of budding storytellers see dragons, robots, and their own imaginations spring to life—one magical asset at a time.
- We encourage interested candidates to visit our website at www.chroniclecreations.co to learn more about our team and vision.
We look forward to reviewing your application!
