About the Role

We’re looking for an AI Engineer to own and scale the intelligent agent systems powering Palm. This role is central as we’re building the future of how businesses interact with compliance data through conversational AI. You’ll design, implement, and maintain AI-powered assistants and agents that integrate deeply with our backend infrastructure and enable near real-time compliance automation for millions of small businesses.

This is a highly cross-functional role working directly with a Full Stack engineer, Product Manager, and Founders. It requires initiative, a sharp eye for detail, and comfort owning ambiguous AI system components from scratch through production.

What You’ll Do

• Design, prototype, and refine AI agents for tasks such as:
• Form recommendation and applicability analysis
• Field-level data collection and validation
• Agent-to-backend integration via JSON interfaces
• Own implementation of our chatbot experience and its evolution into a product-facing expert
• Build scalable, testable frameworks for agent reasoning, memory, and prompt orchestration
• Partner with backend and infra (MCP) engineers to ensure structured, bi-directional data flows between the agent and our Supabase backend
• Be excellent at quickly spinning up, iterating and maintaining new workflows and bots based on real time feedback
• Develop and document a robust agent strategy and architecture, including fallback/error handling, versioning, and field-level auditability
• Set up internal test harnesses and evaluation pipelines for PoC agents
• Stay close to the business context: you’ll work with the Product team to ensure your work aligns with real-world regulations and user expectations

About You

• 3+ years of experience working with LLM-based agents, AI-powered chat experiences, or prompt engineering at a systems level
• Strong experience building or integrating with OpenAI, LangChain, or similar frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to take a fuzzy spec and turn it into a structured, working system
• Fluent in Python or TypeScript, with a clear preference for writing clean, tested, and maintainable code
• Experience integrating LLMs with backend APIs (REST or JSON-based)
• Familiarity with structured output validation
• Strong communicator: able to explain reasoning, document decisions, and collaborate well in async, distributed environments
• Bonus: Experience working with Supabase/PostgreSQL, Vercel, or fast-moving product teams
