Head of Developer Relations Role

Type de job: Remote

Description of the offer

Why we are hiring this role

Source is revolutionizing how developers manage data in our edge-first world. As the creators of DefraDB, a groundbreaking peer-to-peer edge-native database, Source is building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of distributed applications…from mobile app, industrial IoT (which to me includes smart city), autonomous systems to AI, space, and beyond..

With 75% of data now generated at the edge, traditional cloud-dependent architectures are becoming a bottleneck. Source’s technology stack enables developers to build applications that work seamlessly offline, sync peer-to-peer without central servers, and maintain cryptographic verification across distributed environments.

Our innovative approach combines conflict-free replicated data types (CRDTs) and edge computing to create truly resilient, privacy-preserving applications.

We are hiring a Head of Developer Relations because we’ve reached a pivotal moment. Our technology is mature enough to solve real problems for developers, but the market is just beginning to understand the huge potential of edge-first data management.

We need a thoughtful, engaged devrel leader who can bridge the gap between our tech and the developer community that will build the future on top of it.

Why this role matters

As Head of Developer Relations at Source, you will be the primary advocate for the developer community and the voice of developers within the company.

This role is absolutely crucial to Source’s success because our technology represents a paradigm shift…developers need education, support, and advocacy to understand how to harness the power of edge-first data management.

You’ll be responsible for building and nurturing a thriving ecosystem of developers who understand and champion Source’s vision.

This means creating comprehensive educational resources, fostering vibrant communities, and ensuring that developers have everything they need to build amazing applications with DefraDB and the broader Source stack.

The role extends far beyond traditional developer advocacy. You’ll be instrumental in shaping the product roadmap based on real developer feedback, establishing Source as a thought leader in the edge computing space, and building the community that will accelerate adoption across industries.

Working alongside the co-founders, DevEx team, and core product teams, you’ll directly impact the company’s growth trajectory and help establish the standards for how the industry approaches edge-first development.

Requirements for the role

• Proven track record in developer relations, community building, or technical advocacy roles with measurable impact on developer adoption and engagement
• Deep understanding of modern software development practices, with hands-on experience in distributed systems, databases, managed infrastructure, or related technologies
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences through writing, speaking, and multimedia content
• Experience building and scaling developer communities from the ground up, including strategies for engagement, retention, and growth
• Strong technical background with the ability to create code examples, tutorials, and technical documentation that resonates with developers
• Track record of successful public speaking at technical conferences, meetups, and industry events
• Experience working with open source communities and understanding of collaborative development workflows
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and marketing teams to align developer needs with business objectives
• Experience with event planning and execution, from local meetups to large-scale developer conferences
• Strong analytical mindset with experience measuring and optimizing developer experience metrics
• Passion for emerging technologies and the ability to stay ahead of industry trends

An exciting opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the most innovative companies in the edge computing space at an important moment.

Source is building technology that will fundamentally change how applications are developed and deployed, moving us away from cloud-centric architectures toward truly distributed, resilient systems.

As Head of Developer Relations, you’ll be at the forefront of this technological shift, working with cutting-edge technology that solves real problems developers face today.

You’ll have the unique opportunity to shape an entire developer ecosystem from the ground up, working with early adopters who are building the future of autonomous systems, edge AI, smart cities, and beyond.

This role offers exceptional growth potential as the edge computing market explodes, positioning you as a recognized leader in one of technology’s most exciting frontiers.

You’ll work with a passionate team that’s committed to empowering developers and building technology that makes a meaningful impact on how software is created and deployed globally.
