Maptote is looking for a driven and creative Graphic Designer / Illustrator to join our Brooklyn-based team. In this role, you’ll bring cities to life through illustrated maps and designs for both our signature product line and custom client projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong design eye, illustration skills, and a passion for locally made, design-forward goods.
Primary Responsibilities
Designs & Branding
- Create new illustrated designs for Maptote’s core product line
- Support new product development and brainstorming
- Organize and maintain design asset libraries
- Design and update print collateral (catalogs, postcards, brochures, etc.)
- Prepare digital and print files for production
Custom Work
- Communicate with potential and existing custom clients
- Coordinate and track status of custom projects
- Design personalized graphics for clients (corporate, retail, etc.)
- Prepare artwork for production and manage final approvals
- Maintain an organized archive of custom projects and assets

- Update and maintain our Shopify-based website
- Add/edit product listings, images, and content as needed
- Troubleshoot minor site issues as they arise
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain organized photo and design libraries via Google Suite
- Assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns
- Create digital assets for web, email, and social media
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or equivalent experience
- 1 – 3 years experience in Graphic design
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
- Experience with Shopify or other e-commerce platforms
- Creative thinker with strong visual communication skills
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational abilities
- Strong illustration and/or hand-lettering skills a plus
- Photo editing experience (retouching, color correction, etc.)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with or enthusiasm for Maptote’s products and aesthetic
