What You’ll Do

As a Senior Software Engineer at AZX, you’ll develop cutting-edge tools and platforms that make real-world impact. Depending on your skill set (front-end, back-end, or full-stack), you will:

• Design and build scalable systems that power critical client solutions—cloud-based APIs, clean front-ends, and resilient data pipelines
• Collaborate across disciplines—engineers, designers, and strategists—to bring clarity to complex challenges and rapidly iterate on solutions.
• Integrate AI and ML capabilities into real-world products (LLMs, automation pipelines, intelligent interfaces)
• Write clean, maintainable code with an eye on performance, security, and long-term scalability.
• Think like a consultant—work with clients and program managers to identify client needs, ask smart questions, and proactively propose solutions.
• Navigate ambiguity while demonstrating confidence, curiosity, and empathy.
• Innovate through data-driven risks, and swift course correction if needed
• Demonstrate a Learning mindset – and leverage feedback and insights from the entire team

What You Bring

We’re seeking versatile engineers with sharp problem-solving instincts and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset to propose technical solutions, drive technical decision-making and instill engineering best practices.

Must-Have Qualifications

All Roles

• 7-12 years of professional software development experience
• A commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, and a no-broken-windows attitude
• Experience building scalable and reliable services in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Solid understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), working with git, pull requests, resolving merge conflicts, etc.
• Strong testing fundamentals across different test types (unit, integration, e2e, etc.)
• Proficiency in debugging using language/framework appropriate tooling (Chrome Dev Tools, PyDBG, etc)
• Exceptional communication skills—able to explain complex systems to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A proven track record of working on ambiguous or high-stakes projects
• Proven experience mentoring junior team members in terms of design, engineering and delivery
• Experience managing medium scope development efforts – with ability to coordinate across customer and project teams
• Located in or aligned with US/Canada time zones

Front End/Full Stack

• Fluency working with modern React using HTML5, CSS3, and TypeScript
• Solid understanding of client-side state management (Hooks, Context, Redux, Zustand, etc.)
• Experience writing tests with modern front-end testing tools (Vitest/Jest, Playwright/Cypress/Selenium, etc.)
• Familiarity with modern front-end build tools (Vite, Parcel, Rollup, etc.)
• Understanding of responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility

Back End/Full Stack

• Proficiency in at least one high-level backend language (Python 3 preferred, TypeScript, Go, etc.)
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining secure RESTful APIs using a modern web framework (FastAPI preferred, Node.js/Deno, ASP.NET Core, etc)
• Experience writing tests with language/framework appropriate tools and libraries
• Experience working with key web infrastructure technologies, including relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, etc.) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis)
• Command of core concepts such as asynchronous programming, concurrency, memoization, and caching, microservice/monolith architectures

Bonus Points

All Roles

• Degree in Computer Science or related field (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Computational Finance, etc.)
• Experience in both startup and enterprise settings
• Founder/early engineer with startup experience, or experience freelancing/consulting
• Past work in energy, real estate, infrastructure, or sustainability
• Passion for solving high-impact problems with responsible AI

Front End/Full Stack

• Experience building with additional modern web libraries and frameworks (Svelte, Vue, Angular, HTMLX, etc.)
• Experience building AI forward experiences, incorporating content-rich datatables, charts, maps, and visualizations, streaming AI interactions.

Back End/Full Stack

• Demonstrable experience in multiple additional languages and/or backend frameworks
• Experience working with lower-level programming languages such as C++, Rust, etc.
• Experience working with additional networking paradigms (GraphQL, Websockets, Server Side Events, etc.)
• Experience developing/operationalizing machine learning models (Sk-learn, xgboost, Pytorch/Tensorflow/JAX, Onnx, etc.)
• Experience working with additional database types such as graph, or vector (e.g., Neo4j/TigerGraph/Dgraph, Pinecone/Milvus/Weaviate/Chroma, etc.)
• Working knowledge of DevOps practices such as building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, working with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Pulumi, and Bicep
