Joon Loloi is seeking an exceptional Software Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team with both technical excellence and strong operational leadership. This role will take ownership of Joon Loloi’s development lifecycle and engineering operations, working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment alongside Design, Marketing, and other teams to brainstorm solutions, improve existing features, and build what’s next.
The ideal candidate is a lifelong learner who constantly pushes themselves to improve, meets and exceeds deadlines, and has a keen eye for detail paired with future-focused thinking. You’ll be someone who can review a design mockup and immediately spot potential issues, suggest meaningful improvements, and architect solutions before problems arise. This is a hands-on leadership role—we need someone who actively contributes code, conducts thorough code reviews, and leads by example through technical contribution. Documentation and knowledge sharing are critical to this role—we need someone who eliminates information silos and ensures continuity even as the team evolves.
This role includes opportunities to grow and expand your impact across our sister brand, Loloi Rugs.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the Joon Loloi development lifecycle, from planning through release, including code reviews, testing, and continuous improvements.

- Work cross-functionally with Design, Marketing, Product, and other stakeholders to brainstorm business solutions and translate requirements into technical implementations.
- Review design specifications with a critical eye—identifying potential issues, suggesting improvements, and proactively solving problems before development begins.
- Lead the team in building, maintaining, and improving features using modern technologies including Next.js, headless CMSs, and REST APIs.
- Work with the VP of Engineering to maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management processes that ensure consistent, reliable code releases.
- Oversee all code reviews, ensuring high standards for code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation that eliminates knowledge silos and ensures the entire development team can understand systems, processes, and technical decisions.
- Communicate technical decisions, project status, and engineering initiatives clearly to the broader team, including non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
- Mentor and manage the Joon Loloi engineering team, creating growth opportunities and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Set clear goals and hold the team accountable while consistently meeting and exceeding project deadlines.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, bringing new ideas and approaches to the team.
