Senior Graphic Designer

Company details

Company: The SLA of California
Type de job: Remote
Country: United States
City: Los Angeles
Experience: 4 years or more

Description of the offer

At the Surplus Line Association of California (SLA), we don’t sell insurance—we protect access to it. As the only organization overseeing California’s $20+ billion surplus lines insurance marketplace, we help support coverage availability for businesses—from film studios to freight haulers—when risks are too complex, too large or too unique for the standard market.    Each year we review more than 1 million policy transactions, equip insurance brokers with compliance tools and continuing education courses, monitor the financial stability of global insurers and deliver data-driven insights that help the industry stay ahead of emerging risks. That impact—combined with our strong employee culture—has earned us recognition by Fortune as one of the Bay Area’s best places to work.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Graphic Designer who’s ready to take ownership of design across a trusted, long-established organization that’s modernizing its look and feel. You will be responsible for defining the brand’s visual identity, where the decisions you make will directly shape our market perception and create a lasting impact.

You’ll help shape and refine the SLA’s visual identity, ensuring our materials—from reports to digital campaigns—are cohesive, professional and intentional. This isn’t about chasing trends; it’s about thoughtful design that communicates clearly and makes complex information approachable and visually appealing.

If you enjoy balancing creativity with precision, and you like seeing your work make a tangible difference in how a brand presents itself—we’d love to meet you

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage the evolution of our visual brand—across print, digital, web and video.
  • Design print materials like annual reports, publications and event pieces—with a strong sense for layouts that balance heavy text and infographics.
  • Create digital assets for campaigns, social media and our website.
  • Turn technical, data-heavy content into clean, accessible visuals.
  • Work closely with our communications team to ensure the visuals and messaging flow seamlessly together.
  • Build and maintain design systems, templates and brand standards that others can easily follow.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a designer who doesn’t just make things look good—you make them make sense. You think about the “why” behind every choice and you care about your craft.

You might be a great fit if:

  • You have 5+ years of experience as a designer (agency or in-house).
  • You’ve helped build or refresh a brand—and can show how it came to life across multiple platforms.
  • You’re confident in print design, especially long reports and layouts that mix text, data, and visuals.
  • You have a strong portfolio that shows range: brand identity, print, digital and web.
  • You know your way around Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
  • You’re organized, dependable and can manage your own deadlines.
  • You pay attention to detail—the kind that separates a good design from a great one.

Bonus points if you’ve worked in finance, insurance or a similarly structured environment—but it’s not required.
