Description of the offer

At KangarooHealth, we’re proud to offer an innovative product and service to our customers and their patients in the area of remote medical monitoring. To help us continue expanding our offerings, we’re in search of an experienced Director or VP of Engineering & Technology to lead a multidisciplinary development team. The ideal candidate will be able to lead a team of engineers, oversee the product roadmap and execution, and partner with leadership to ensure alignment across the organization. We’re looking for a confident leader who can guide cross-functional teams in the creation and implementation of products that improve customer experience and grow market share.

This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role at a critical inflection point. We’re resetting for scale, quality, and speed. In this role, you will:

  • Conduct a full assessment of the current engineering team – including team structure, workflows, systems architecture, and codebase, with a mandate to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and what needs to be fixed now.
  • Develop and execute the company’s technology roadmap.
  • Drive the product planning processes for cross-functional teams.
  • Assess current competitor offerings and seek opportunities for differentiation
  • Analyze product requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure they’re met, managing both the product itself, as well as the build and implementation of products within the dashboard.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines across multiple departments.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable engineering initiatives and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with executive leadership on long-term strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of software and systems engineering.
  • Develop and lead a distributed engineering team with overseas contributors.
  • Establish and implement engineering best practices.
  • Lead R&D initiatives to explore emerging technologies.
  • Ensure quality, scalability, reliability, and security of all technical solutions.
  • Drive the execution of all processes in the product lifecycle, including product and market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, requirements and roadmap development, and product launch
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final development by engineering teams.
  • Manage the technical infrastructure.
  • Oversee the product development lifecycles.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, privacy, and security regulations.
  • Set performance metrics and accountability systems for engineering productivity and delivery.
  • Establish and enforce technology policies and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (required). Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership or executive role.
  • Proven success leading large-scale software or systems projects.
  • Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps; familiarity with Shape Up or interest in adopting it is preferred as we move toward this model.
  • Strong grasp of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern architecture (microservices, APIs, containerization).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, data governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and system integration.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI/ML, automation, IoT, or data analytics (depending on the industry).
  • Proven ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams.
  • Strong track record of strategic planning, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Demonstrated success driving innovation and organizational transformation.
  • Excellent change management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $160,000 – $180,000 annually

Benefits: Health/dental/vision insurance, HSA/FSA, 401(k), PTO, Life & AD&D insurance, short/long term disability, remote work schedule.
