GoodParty.org is looking for an Data Engineer to help us transform data into analysis-ready formats to empower both candidates and internal teams to make impactful, data-driven decisions.

About GoodParty.org:

GoodParty.org is on a mission to make people matter more than money in our democracy by empowering independent candidates to run, win, and serve. Our AI-powered platform provides free tools to independent candidates to run their campaigns, connect with voters, and serve their communities effectively.

A majority of eligible voters, including more than half of Millennials and Gen Z, say that neither Republicans nor Democrats represent them. GoodParty.org is the solution. In 2024 we empowered 3,444 independent candidate wins across 48 states from all across the ideological spectrum. The only things our elected officials have in common is that they prioritize people over parties and community over corporate interests. In 2024, 40.3 million voters (26% of all voters) cast a ballot for our candidates. We’re not a political party, we’re a platform and a movement to democratize democracy.

Founded by serial entrepreneur Farhad Mohit ($1B+ in exits, including Flipagram/TikTok and Shopzilla), GoodParty.org is building solutions so we can have a truly representative democracy where society’s biggest problems are solved.

What you’ll do:

• Design, build and maintain dbt data models that power candidate tools and internal analytics.
• Develop and maintain data workflows and pipelines using Airflow to orchestrate and automate ETL patterns and other data tasks
• Collaborate across the Data, Product, and Engineering teams to define key metrics, business logic and ensure data accuracy.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of analytics-ready datasets, from ingestion to transformation to documentation.
• Build and maintain robust testing, monitoring, and alerting systems to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability.
• Translate business questions into performant queries and datasets for reporting and experimentation.
• Maintain documentation and support data discoverability through clear definitions, testing and lineage tracking.
• Collaborate with our lean, agile team using CI/CD and Kanban methodologies.
• Partner with stakeholders to build trusted datasets that power dashboards, ad hoc analysis, and experimentation
• Report to directly to the Chief Technology Officer

Who we’re looking for:

• You’re up for the audacious challenge of re-coding our democracy for Good.
• You are fluent in SQL and experienced in writing modular, reusable dbt models to support analytics workflows.
• You’re a proven A-player with 4+ years of relevant full-time work experience, ideally within a fast-paced startup environment.
• You’re actively interested in using AI, LLMs, and automation of tasks through AI and have done previous work or personal projects in this area.
• You are good at working with stakeholders and doing requirements gathering.
• You are willing to wear multiple hats and quickly learn new skills to adapt in a fast-growing, evolving environment.
• You’re able to work independently and collaborate with others when needed to iteratively solve problems in real-time. Our solution is desperately needed and the issues of our time are all bottlenecked by our corrupted democracy.

Bonus if:

• You’ve contributed to or led metrics layer design.
• You have working knowledge of distributed computing with Pyspark on Databricks
• You have experience studying, working, or volunteering in politics, political activism, or democracy reform.

The salary range is $110,000–$160,000 for this remote, full-time position with excellent benefits. This range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, seniority, education, qualifications, certifications, and organizational needs. We reserve the right to modify this pay range at any time.
