Freelance Educator
Nelson’s Classroom Success team consists of passionate educators ready to support teachers, administrators, and board personnel every day of the school year. Our educators help students and teachers achieve their goals, answer pressing questions, and bring interactive learning experiences to life.
We are actively seeking new educators available during school hours to collaborate with us on a freelance basis in the following geographic locations:
- London
- Brantford
- Kitchener
- Niagara
- Mississauga
- Hamilton
- Greater Toronto Area
The Position
Nelson’s Classroom Success team works closely with resource teams at school boards to offer professional development, resources, and live learning opportunities that drive Edwin use. We rely on freelancers to help carry out these initiatives. Work assignments are variable in scope and can be matched to the skill set of each freelancer, ranging from 4-10 hours weekly.
Key Accountabilities
- Present Edwin workshops, subject-specific PD sessions, lunch and learns, and admin/staff overviews virtually and in person.
- Arrange and conduct a pre-webinar/presentation interview with Classroom Success Leads to determine the focus and goals for the presentation.
- Remain up-to-date and familiar with the provided resources and materials to deliver a session that meets the goals discussed during the pre-webinar interview.
- Prepare for sessions utilizing provided PPTs and appropriate ancillary materials, while also being familiar with the electronic resources and support items that will meet the needs of each customer.
- Ensure completion of customer and internal feedback forms after every session delivered.
- Support with the creation of classroom-ready resources including, but not limited to, curriculum mapping, lesson plans, scope and sequence documents, and long-range plans.
Requirements
- Provincially Certified Teacher credentials.
- Passionate about connecting and collaborating to share best practices, materials, and opportunities for educators and administrators to learn from and with each other.
- Exemplary presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Superior organization, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technology skills.
- Must have access to reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to occasionally provide presentations in person and online during and after school hours.

Benefits
All freelance work at Nelson is carried out on a work-for-hire basis, with Educators submitting invoices for work on agreed-upon tasks and projects. The rate of pay ranges depending on experience and skill level, or sometimes according to predetermined task-based flat rates.
