Job Overview & Description

Social Media Producer / Writer — Documentary Film

Remote | U.S. Only | Freelance | $1,000/month

We’re looking for an experienced Social Media Producer/Writer to lead daily social content for an award-winning feature documentary that has screened at numerous documentary festivals.

The film examines prescription drug harm, polypharmacy and benzodiazepine-related illness. Our social channels extend the film into an ongoing conversation around the medical, legal and social issues connected to its subject matter, including current coverage surrounding the Lindsay Clancy trial.

This is not an entry-level social media position. We are specifically looking for someone with professional writing experience covering medical, mental-health, legal or significant social issues for a feature film, documentary series, news organization, magazine, publication or comparable editorial platform.

The work requires researching complex and sensitive subjects, identifying relevant stories and developments, and turning them into concise, accurate and compelling daily social content.

You should have:

  • Professional social media and writing experience
  • Previous writing experience covering medical, mental-health or significant social issues
  • Experience writing for a documentary film, documentary series, publication, news organization or comparable editorial platform
  • Excellent research, fact-checking and editorial judgment
  • The ability to write thoughtfully about sensitive medical and legal subjects
  • A strong passion for documentary filmmaking
  • The ability to work independently and maintain a daily publishing schedule
  • U.S. residency

Compensation: $1,000/month

Commitment: Part-time/freelance; daily posts

To apply: Please include 2–3 specific examples of published work covering medical, mental-health or social issues. Applications without relevant writing samples will not be considered.
