Job Overview & Description

Who is Ben Hall Law

Ben Hall Law is a personal injury and criminal defense firm dedicated to providing aggressive, strategic legal representation to individuals experiencing some of the most difficult moments in their lives. Based in East Lansing and serving clients throughout Michigan, Ben Hall Law represents people in criminal defense and personal injury matters. The firm was built around a simple idea: when someone is facing the power of the government, an insurance company, or another institution, they deserve an advocate who understands the system and is prepared to stand up to it.

Legal problems are rarely just legal problems. An arrest can threaten a career, a reputation, and a family. A serious injury can disrupt a person’s health, work, finances, and plans for the future. We focus on giving clients clear answers, practical guidance, and a strategy built around what is actually at stake for them.

Founder Ben Hall brings an unusual perspective to that work. Before becoming a defense attorney, he served in the United States Marine Corps, worked for years as a police officer, and later served as a prosecutor. That background means our firm understands investigations, evidence, charging decisions, and courtroom strategy from more than one side.

That experience now informs both sides of the firm’s work. In criminal defense, it helps us understand how police investigate cases and how prosecutors assess evidence. In personal injury matters, it reinforces the importance of careful investigation, documentation, and holding powerful organizations accountable when their actions harm someone.

The firm’s philosophy is straightforward: know the facts, know the system, and prepare thoroughly. We do not assume that an accusation is correct, that an official report tells the whole story, or that an insurance company’s first position is fair. We investigate, ask questions, and build the case from the evidence outward.

That perspective continues to shape how we advise clients, negotiate on their behalf, and litigate when a case needs to be fought in court.

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Marketing Manager at Ben Hall Law. The Marketing Manager will plan and execute digital and traditional marketing campaigns to enhance the firm’s visibility and reputation within target markets. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing social media channels, website content, and email marketing; coordinating online advertising; and monitoring campaign performance using analytics tools. The role also involves developing brand-consistent messaging, collaborating with attorneys and staff to create client-focused materials, and managing relationships with external vendors and freelance contractors. The Marketing Manager will track key metrics, prepare regular performance reports, and continuously optimize marketing strategies to support business growth. This role has long-term growth potential toward a Director-level position leading a combined sales and marketing function as the firm scales.

Qualifications

  • Experience in marketing strategy, campaign planning, and brand management within professional services or similar environments
  • Proficiency with digital marketing tools and channels, such as social media management, SEO/SEM, email marketing platforms, and web analytics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear, client-focused content and adapt tone for different audiences
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret marketing metrics, and use insights to improve performance and inform decision-making
  • Proven organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders in a remote setting
  • Collaborative working style, comfort partnering with attorneys and staff, and professionalism when handling sensitive subject matter
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in legal, professional services, or high-trust industries is a plus; familiarity with ethical and compliance considerations in marketing regulated professions is beneficial

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with CallRail, Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar marketing analytics/SEO tools
  • Experience in the legal industry or familiarity with attorney advertising and ethics rules
  • Experience evaluating or negotiating marketing vendor contracts
  • Experience managing a sales department: this role has a path toward eventually leading a combined sales and marketing function, so prior sales management experience is a meaningful differentiator
  • 5+ years of experience with direct ownership of a marketing budget (not just executing a budget someone else set)
  • Proven track record catching underperforming or fraudulent vendor/agency work (inflated backlink counts, fabricated traffic reports, padded timesheets) and holding vendors accountable for it
  • Experience managing a team of freelance or contract marketing specialists, not just doing the work individually
  • Experience building a multi-channel marketing strategy from scratch, rather than executing a plan someone else designed
  • Working knowledge of state bar advertising and ethics rules for attorneys, or demonstrated ability to learn regulated-industry compliance quickly
  • Experience connecting marketing spend to revenue or case-value outcomes, not just top-of-funnel metrics like clicks and impressions
  • Experience running technical SEO audits, not just content and keyword strategy

Compensation

$70,000-$95,000/year, based on experience.

Schedule

Full-time. Availability required during U.S. Eastern business hours.

Reports To

Firm owner, directly.

Team You’ll Manage

A team of freelance contractors and vendors: video editor, photo editor, ad creative designer, and social media manager.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for the employee at no cost
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k) with match
  • 4 weeks of paid time off
  • 1 week of sick time

To Apply, Please Include

  • Examples of marketing programs you’ve managed end-to-end, not just tasks executed for someone else’s strategy
  • An example of catching an underperforming vendor or agency and what you did about it
  • Confirmation of your availability for a full-time, ongoing engagement
