Job Overview & Description

We are looking for detail-oriented English language specialists to support a podcast audio annotation project involving ASR transcript correction and word-level segmentation/boundary review.

The role requires excellent listening skills and the ability to accurately review conversational English, including casual speech, disfluencies, slang, regional variations, and audio containing numbers, names, codes, and spelt-out words.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review ASR-generated transcripts against the source audio and correct transcription errors.
  • Correct capitalisation, punctuation, spelling, and formatting as per project guidelines.
  • Identify and remove unmatched or duplicate segments and add missing segments where required.
  • Review word-level segmentation and adjust word/segment start and end boundaries to accurately match the audio.
  • Work with both standard conversational podcast content and content containing heavy alphanumeric information.
  • Maintain high accuracy while meeting project productivity and turnaround expectations.
  • Follow project-specific guidelines and quality standards consistently.
  • Participate in training, calibration, and quality feedback sessions as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Auditory English proficiency: C1 or above, with near-native listening ability.
  • Written English proficiency: B2 or above.
  • Strong understanding of spoken English, including casual conversation, disfluencies, slang, contractions, and varied pronunciation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify subtle differences between audio and transcript.
  • Ability to accurately work with word-level timestamps and segmentation boundaries.
  • Strong instruction-following and quality orientation.
  • Good typing speed and ability to work efficiently under defined productivity targets.
  • Comfortable working with repetitive, detail-intensive audio annotation tasks.
  • Prior experience in audio transcription, speech data annotation, ASR validation, segmentation, timestamping, or similar language-data projects is preferred.

Work Setup Requirements

  • Wired headphones are mandatory, as Bluetooth devices may introduce audio latency that can affect precise boundary alignment.
  • A quiet working environment with minimal background noise.
  • Reliable system and internet connectivity.

Selection Process

Candidates will undergo a screening assessment that includes:

  • English listening and comprehension
  • Transcript correction
  • Word-level segmentation/boundary accuracy
  • Timed productivity assessment
  • Attention-to-detail and instruction-following evaluation

Candidates must demonstrate both high accuracy and the required processing speed to qualify for the project.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with previous experience in podcast transcription, ASR correction, speech annotation, word-level alignment, or audio quality evaluation will be preferred.
