Midweight Project Manager (Freelance)

Company details

Type of job: Freelance
Country: United Kingdom
City: London
Company: Hugo & Cat Limited

Description of the offer

We’re on the lookout for a brilliant Midweight Project Manager. If you have digital agency experience, are quick, communicative and organised then this could be the role for you.

You will be supporting our Associate Project directors on large projects and you will be asked to run smaller projects on your own. You’ll need to have fantastic communication skills, hold a high degree of responsibility, and the diplomacy to build relationships and manage external and internal stakeholders whilst keeping projects on track. You will ensure our internal processes are translated into working practices on your projects, and be responsible for ensuring these are adhered to at all times.

Requirements

  • Manage various types of projects including: Content toolkits, Strategy, Design, UX and Technical briefs with varying complexity.
  • When working with an Associate Project Director you will support them by updating financial reports, managing Asana tickets daily, keeping on top of resource bookings, briefing designers, setting up meetings, keeping notes from client status calls in a clear and concise way.
  • When working alone you will adhere to Hugo & Cat’s project delivery methodology; you will understand the client’s brief, gather and prioritise requirements, plan tasks with a team, create project costs, track, monitor and report on project progress.
  • Determine the resource profile for your project based on the project plan, and create a budget based on the resource needs.
  • Produce Statements of Work for projects based on the project delivery plan.
  • Proactively manage delivery of your assigned projects to the agreed scope. Flag to your account leads if scope deviation occurs and work with them to determine a plan to resolve the issue.
  • Be able to foresee and prevent problems through proactive status updates and tracking and monitoring of project progress.
  • Monitor financial tracking on a per-project basis and work with your account leads mitigating any issues that arise.
  • Developing great working relationships with other departments and promoting positive liaisons at the project level.
  • Ensuring retrospectives are held when necessary, and knowledge shared within your account and within the wider delivery team.
  • Represent your client’s brand within Hugo and Cat and vice versa.
  • Communicating progress and appropriate escalation to your project leader.
  • Work proactively with your department leader to manage your own workload and prevent over- or under-utilisation.

A Midweight Project Manager must have the following essential skills, knowledge or abilities:

  • 3+ years’ experience of delivering projects within a top digital agency or client environment.
  • Experience of Account Management role in a previous agency is preferred but not essential
  • Experience working with Strategy and Creative teams.
  • Knowledge of current industry standard delivery methodologies, including Agile (e.g. Scrum) and waterfall, and to be comfortable applying the appropriate approach for each project.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with peers and clients, and the ability to achieve results under challenging circumstances.
  • Ability to make sound commercial and financial decisions, quickly grasp an understanding of complex problems and propose solutions to facilitate fast resolutions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, whilst remaining objective and retaining a positive approach.
  • Be self-motivated, self-driven and independent, and able to identify team members who can provide information to keep your projects on track if blockers arise.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high standards of excellence and integrity, showing solid business acumen and sound judgement.
  • Outstanding communication skills at all levels, (presentation, written, verbal)
  • Exceptional skills in MS Excel, Word and Project, experience with project management tools such as Jira and Asana, and a very high degree of overall computer literacy.
  • Highly organised and tenacious, with exceptional attention to detail.
