Description of the offer

Climate Arc exists to address the gaps between existing and required capital and capacity to achieve a climate safe, net zero future. To achieve this bold goal, we must be able and willing to critically assess our own work as well as the work of our grantees, independent consultants and contractors (funding recipients) to continuously develop capacity within Arc as well as the wider climate finance community.

Climate Arc is now seeking an experienced Impact Associate to support the design and implementation of our Impact Strategy as well as the day-to-day monitoring and evaluation of program funding recipients. The Impact Associate will conduct regular analysis of Monitoring & Evaluation data, and extract learnings to contribute to donor reporting and other materials.

Reporting to the Impact Lead, this exciting, newly created role will play a critical part in designing and delivering Arc’s strategy of boosting the capacity of the climate finance ecosystem through assisting with research into best practice Monitoring & Evaluation models, helping to define reporting indicators and supporting data collection and analysis for Arc’s donors and other stakeholders.

In 2023, key deliverables of the Impact Team will include the design and implementation of Arc’s Impact Strategy; the design and build of a web-based impact platform and the first of Arc’s Annual Impact reports.

This role can be fully remote or hybrid across the UK or anywhere in Europe.

What you will be doing:

  • Partnering with Arc’s Impact Lead in the design and delivery of an organisation wide results Framework, external and internal reporting and Climate Arc’s overall Impact Strategy.
  • Drive the development of Arc’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) system and processes including key indicators.
  • Drive uptake of the system and ensure the smooth running of databases and digital data collection systems, providing end user training.
  • Provide periodic updates and diagnostic reports on team and program usage of MEL tools and digital data collection.
  • Lead the development of Impact Plans for funding recipients in collaboration with the Partnerships team.
  • Lead a culture of mutual and continuous learning with funding recipients and Arc teams.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Climate Arc funding recipients.
  • Provide technical support to funding recipients in planning and implementing Monitoring & Evaluation systems and activities and data-based decision-making
  • Aggregate and support the analysis of Impact data from across Climate Arc’s information platforms to contribute to management decision-making and reporting.
  • Ensure Impact data and information is accurately and ethically collected, stored, analysed, and shared in adherence to Climate Arc’s data protection policies.
  • Generate and present periodic indicator reports on funding recipients’ and Arc’s overall progress against key indicators.

Requirements

Required:

  • Dedication to Arc’s mission and vision.
  • Proven experience in a similar MEL role in international development, climate, finance or data consultancy fields.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, foresight, and vision to actively analyse program activities, challenge assumptions, and develop creative solutions
  • Excellent project management and time management skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written English language and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience designing and implementing MEL methods and approaches, e.g. designing, planning, and implementing MEL systems, analysing and reporting using a logical framework, results chain and other strategic planning approaches
  • Experience designing and/or working with qualitative and quantitative measurement tools for comprehensive MEL
  • Experience in generating and presenting periodic reports on funding recipients’ and overall progress against key indicators
  • Experience in ensuring the accuracy and ethical collection, storage, analysis, and sharing of Impact data and information in adherence to data protection policies
  • Robust analytical skills; the ability to synthesize information and distil insights and conclusions succinctly

Remuneration

Depending on experience and demonstrated capability, the salary range for this role in the UK is £30,000-50,000. For other locations, we will set salary in line with our compensation structure compared to similar roles in similar organizations within that particular geography.
