Company: Third Space Learning

Description of the offer

Here at Third Space Learning, our mission is to ensure every student is able to access great quality online tuition to help them succeed in, and love, their learning. For too long, tutoring has been the preserve of a fortunate minority and we seek to address that by working in partnership with schools to provide additional weekly one to one math tutoring to the pupils who need it most.

We do this by recruiting passionate and enthusiastic undergraduates and graduates from emerging markets – namely India and Sri Lanka – and providing them with extensive training and development to form a global tutor community capable of delivering personalized and accessible tuition to schools at scale worldwide.

We have taught 150,000 students more than 1.9 million math lessons at 4,000+ schools but we are just getting started. The scale of the problem we seek to solve is significant; there are 11 million disadvantaged students in the US, 1.7 million disadvantaged students in the UK, and millions more in English speaking markets globally.

The Role

At Third Space Learning, we pride ourselves on our pedagogy rich, knowledge focused and well-structured resources; for classroom teaching and for live tutoring instruction. We are looking for someone who feels equally as passionate about mathematics as us. As a Content Creator, you will be working on resources suitable for the US Common Core audience. It is essential that you have experience teaching Math in the US and have deep knowledge of the relevant math syllabus.

We are looking for working teachers (including part-time teachers and cover teachers), who are able to complete these tasks in addition to their teaching, or someone who has recently left the profession, or has been working as a curriculum content creator for an established math curriculum provider.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who has experience either writing math curriculum content within a US school environment or experience working with an established math curriculum company who provides curriculum content to schools.

Our Ideal candidate would have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of active teaching in a US elementary or middle school
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or higher / equivalent)
  • Detailed knowledge of the US Common Core curriculum
  • Excellent communication skills and excellent IT skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work to deadlines and manage time effectively
  • A passion for math
  • Ideas and insight into what teachers want and need for math teaching

We’d also love to find someone with:

  • Math subject leadership experience
  • Experience creating math content for curriculum content providers
  • Experience finding and using math resources online
  • Up to date knowledge of the latest trends and research in math teaching
  • Prior experience reviewing instructional materials for organizations like EdReports (or for a district / state adoption process)

If you meet at least some of these criteria and think you are a good fit for the role, then please apply. The above criteria act as a guide as to the sort of experience that would set someone up for success in this role. We’d love to hear from you if you think you have what it takes to give schools the best possible experience, even if you don’t tick every box.

Benefits

  • Flexible working hours – you can choose how to balance your hours around your own schedule.
  • This is a freelance position and the compensation is $30/hour.
  • There is potential for a longer term contract in the future.

To apply you will need to provide an example of a resource you have created. For this resource, you will need to describe your thought process in creating it, who it was aimed at and how it was used.

If the application form that you are using does not support uploading a resource, please email the resource to paul.coffey@thirdspacelearning.com with the subject line: ‘US Math Curriculum Content Creator’.
