Content and Events Producer

Type of job: Remote
Country: England
City: London
Company: The Joy Club

Description of the offer

The origin of the word ‘retirement’ is to ‘withdraw the mind’. We know that the modern retiree wants the opposite. So, we’re building the go-to platform for content and experiences that resonate with this underserved demographic.

In December 2020 we launched The Joy Club platform in the UK, helping our members to meet new people and try new things through our live online events programme, inspiring content and thriving community. Since then, The Joy Club has brought joy to thousands of retirees from across the UK, secured pioneering partnerships with major retirement communities and financial services providers and become a multi-award-winning company. In 2023 alone, The Joy Club was named Healthtech Company of the Year by the Global Business Tech Awards, received the Social Impact Heroes award from Hustle and was named one of the UK’s 50 most impactful companies to work for by Impact Fifty, alongside the likes of Patagonia and Headspace. This is just the beginning, with plans for international expansion and an exciting product roadmap in place.

As our Content and Events Producer, you’ll be responsible for hosting The Joy Club’s live online events, where you will engage with and delight our members, manage facilitators and high-profile guests with warmth and professionalism and ensure the smooth running of all sessions. You will also have responsibility for the production of high-quality content across a range of formats, including video and audio, and you will take ownership of managing our library of on-demand content. You will work closely with our Senior Commissioning Editor to find and onboard fantastic facilitators to create joyful content experiences for our members.

Do you have high EQ and possess exceptional listening skills? Are you positive, energetic and tenacious, inspiring those around you? Are you able to work independently to produce high quality work at pace, generating creative and out-of-the-box ideas? If you answered yes to these three questions, keep reading.

You’ll want to be our Content and Events Producer because:

  • You’ll be part of an early-stage startup, where you’ll have lots of responsibility and room for development.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to engage and support our membership demographic – an important and underserved group.
  • You’ll have a high degree of autonomy and independence.
  • Your creative ideas and feedback will be listened to and harnessed to drive improvement in the content offering.
  • You’ll be joining a team that is amazing at what they do but where there are no egos – everyone genuinely cares about The Joy Club’s mission.

We’ll want you to be our Content and Events Producer if you have:

  • Experience of working in a customer-facing / people-facing role, which will have involved presenting, event-hosting, conversational interactions and issue resolution.
  • A proven track record of being technically savvy and confident – you’re a natural troubleshooter who can solve problems as they arise, and you’ll be experienced in using content management systems, as well as recording / editing software and video conferencing.
  • Experience working in a startup or small team with a high degree of confidence and autonomy.
  • The ability and desire to thrive in a remote working environment.
  • It would also be good, but not necessary, if you have experience organising and negotiating with professionals / service providers / freelancers.

You’ll have been successful as our Content and Events Producer, if in one year’s time you have:

  • Increased positive member sentiment, as evidenced by positive member feedback, positive reviews of events, increased customer retention and conversions to Premium.
  • Increased live online event attendance amongst members.
  • Increased engagement with our selection of on-demand video and audio content.
  • Helped to shape the direction of our broad content offering.

When you’re successful in role, you’ll feel:

  • Appreciated by your team members.
  • Deeply rewarded by the impact your work has on engaging our members.
  • Curious to keep trying new things.
  • Excited to be at the heart of our member community, providing our customers with high-quality content.
  • Buoyed by the high-growth trajectory and what that means for the scale of impact we can have.

Together, we’ll build the largest and most joyful community of retirees globally!

You’ll also be attracted by:

  • Salary range of £28k-£32k (depending on experience) + 10% uplift in the form of an EMI Option Agreement (i.e. additional 10% of your salary worth of options, in addition to your salary).
  • Quarterly development reviews (during which pay rise and promotion opportunities are discussed and considered).
  • A generous holiday allowance of 27 days + bank holidays + your birthday off.
  • Our remote-first culture – we meet in person every month in London but otherwise you can work where suits you best, with a budget available to access a coworking space near home.
  • The opportunity to learn fast, amongst a humble but exceptional team.
